How to Use Essential Oils Topically

Let’s go back to some foundational knowledge today that is helpful for those of you just starting out with essential oils. Today, we’re going to answer the question, “Where should I apply this essential oil?” Young Living Education and Training has given us some great information to share with you. My additional insight is in bluish-purple font for you.)

The answer is different for everyone, because we each have different physical and emotional needs, and all of our bodies are genetically and chemically different. This guide features some simple application points for essential oils. We recommend diluting your essential oil with V-6 Vegetable Oil Complex or a carrier oil before topical application if you are new to essential oils, have sensitive skin, or are applying on children. I like to use Coconut Oil, Grapeseed Oil, or Almond oil when I apply my essential oils topically. Grapeseed oil has no smell and goes on with virtually no mess. Coconut oil is best when applying oils in the scalp, especially overnight. Almond oil is great for me when I am doing the oils on my feet and ankles.

  1. This is insightful. I’m gunna save it. Have you done any posts on using essential oils during labor? I plan to use a diffuser but I’m not sure which oil to use I’m torn between lavender or something more energizing like peppermint? Then I read something about having a satchel and bringing the to my nose during contractions….

    1. I haven’t done anything with birth because that would be sharing medical advice, which we aren’t allowed to do. However, I know some people who are doulas. Let me try to go through my mind to remember who they were, as they combined essential oils and are able to give medical advice or recommendations since they are medical professionals. These posts I share on Saturdays come from our training and education department at Young Living and then I add my comments and style to them as needed. Most of my essential oil teachings are around creativity since so many others speak on health issues and know more than me! Let me see who I can connect with you and I will PM you.
