Creative Gift Idea #7: Epson Salts Room Freshener

Picture of homemade (DIY) epson salts room freshener.

An Epson Salts Rooms Freshener is a perfect inexpensive but creative gift for the people on your list who are hard to shop for. This is a creative gift for clients, Secret Santa recipients, and friends from church, or college kids in your community. They work especially well in office cubicles, small rooms, bathrooms, dorms, and dining rooms.

What You Will Need

  • Epsom Salts
  • Essential Oils – 2 or 3 of your favorites (stay away from Rosemary, Peppermint, and Lemon if you don’t know the person and aren’t aware of their health / medications)
  • Spoon
  • Funnel (for pouring salts into container)
  • Container (we prefer Mason Jars but you can use any container)

What You Will Do

  • Pour Epsom Salts into the Container
  • Mix in 10 – 15 drops of your favorite essential oils
  • Stir well to mix up the scents
  • Put cover onto jar and poke holes into it so the scent can come out in small doses (as you can see in picture below, we tend to take our cover off when we want to smell more of the oils)
  • If you would like, decorate the jar and lid.

Note, I mix up the salts each week to ensure the epson salts room freshener is at its strongest each Sunday morning. They typically last several months in our home with the amount of oil we put in them.

    1. Yeah some of these aren’t new ideas but recreations of things that we’ve treasured! I forget which post it is but I mention bringing back old things, like paper bag masks (remember those!!). This one seemed new to my daughter but is a flashback for me!! And soooo inexpensive!!
